How to make your room cosy for Autumn

Posted 1 day ago

Without spending a fortune 🍁

The clocks have gone back and the darker nights are here, which means it's time to get cosy!

Turning your room into a warm and inviting haven doesn't have to break the bank either. Here are some easy, budget-friendly tips to get started:

1. Layer up with soft textures 🧸

Blankets, cushions and throws can instantly make your space feel warmer. Layer them on your bed or on your desk chair to add a bit more colour and texture to your room. You can easily get these from charity shops and supermarket home sections for affordable prices.

2. Add some warm lighting 💡

Overhead lights can feel harsh in the evenings. Embellish your room with some fairy lights and small lamps with warm-toned bulbs to change the mood of your room. Most options are really affordable and reusable year after year.

3. Bring nature inside 🍂

Dried flowers, pinecones and even small plants can add a calming touch to your desk space. If you're not confident in keeping plants alive, opt for a low-maintenance choice like a cactus or succulent.

4. Use scents 🎃

Candles aren't allowed in halls, but you can still get that cosy smell with reed diffusers, room sprays and plug-in air fresheners. Look out for themed scents like cinnamon, vanilla or pumpkin spice.

5. Personalise (or re-personalise) your pinboard 📌

You might have already covered your pinboard with personal momentos, but you can easily change the vibe up with coloured card and different pictures. A great way to personalise your space is to keep updating your pinboard throughout the year.

It's all about adding little touches that make you feel comfortable and at home. So grab a mug of hot chocolate, put on your slippers and get cosy!
