1. Glasgow Cathedral

During your time as a student in Glasgow, it's worth seeing the incredible Gothic architecture of the cathedral. It plays a huge part in the city's history, marking the birthplace of Glasgow. Fun fact: it took around 350 years to finish building! If you're interested in history, you can even take an audio tour around the building to uncover its incredible past. 

2. Glasgow Botanic Gardens

From the glasshouses to the Heritage Trail, discover over 9000 different species of plants at the botanic gardens...for free! With over 20 hectares of greenery to explore, this is a great spot for an afternoon walk and stunning scenery. Whether you choose to wander along the river or grab a quick cuppa at the tearoom, the gardens are perfect if you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. 

3. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum 

If you're an art fanatic, you're sure to love this gallery and museum. Housing 22 galleries, there's so much to see here for free! From natural history to fine art collections there's something that everyone can appreciate. They also host a rotation of temporary exhibitions where you can buy tickets from just £5. 

4. Gallery of Modern Art

5. Glasgow Film Theatre

Opening as a single-screen cinema over 40 years ago, the film theatre is now Scotland's best attended independent cinema (so you know it has to be worth it). It's also a leading film education charity, so you can watch your favourite films knowing that your money is going towards a good cause. It's known for its inclusivity and welcoming nature, showing films that shouldn't go unnoticed from the indie classics to foreign-language masterpieces. 

6. Glasgow Science Centre 

Who said science can't be cool? Glasgow Science Centre shows everyone just how interesting it can be. As an educational charity, they aim to inspire people to engage with science. 7. Barrowland Ballroom and Park

Are you a headbanger? Raver? Mosher? Barrowland is the place where you can let your hair down and sing-a-long with your favourite bands. Its large neon sign attracts music lovers across the UK, making it a major concert venue that shouldn't be missed. Just across the road from the ballroom, you can find Barrowland Park known for its iconic pathway that features the names of artists that have graced the Ballroom stage over the decades from Bowie to the Foo Fighters.
