Keeping it really REALLY local
There's nothing worse than when you feel stuck inside because of the weather or things just not falling into place due to timings or people dropping out. Instead of wallowing inside your room though, you can always turn the situation around by planning a big night in. Here are a few ways you can maximise your night either by yourself or with friends.
With friends/flatmates
- Game Nights: Organise a board game or video game night with your flatmates. It's a great way to bond and have a good time. There are the classics like Monopoly, Uno, or Mario Kart, but why not try something new like Jackbox?
- Movie/TV Marathon: Pick a theme, genre, or your favourite series and have a movie or TV series marathon with your flatmates. Prepare some snacks, create a cosy movie-watching area or get the party started with a watch-along drinking game.
- Cooking Challenge: Have a cooking or baking competition where each flatmate prepares a dish, and you all get to taste and judge ('Think Come Dine With Me' style). It's not only fun but also an opportunity to improve your culinary skills.
- Arts & Crafts Project: If you and your flatmates are into crafts, organize a DIY night. You can make homemade decorations, or personalised gifts, or just go crazy and glue as many things together as possible.
By yourself
- Read a Book: Take some time to read a novel you've been wanting to dive into or explore new genres. Create a cosy reading area in your accommodation and set up a Goodreads account to start documenting your favourites.
- Learn a New Skill: Use your big night in to learn a new skill or hobby. Whether it's playing a musical instrument, cooking a new cuisine, or learning a new language, it can be both enjoyable and fulfilling.
- Journaling or Blogging: Reflect on your experiences, thoughts, and goals by keeping a journal or starting a blog. It's a great way to express yourself and look back on your university journey.
- Pamper Night: Sometimes a big night in calls for a face mask, a large glass of wine and some overpriced moisturiser. It's good to switch off and have a really relaxing evening to yourself, give it a go!
