Celebrate Shrove Tuesday (17th February) by making some delicious pancakes – you deserve a sweet treat 🥞
Ingredients (Serves 2-3)
🛒 What you’ll need:
- 100g plain flour
- 1 large egg
- 300ml milk (semi-skimmed or whole)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp oil or melted butter (plus extra for frying)
Optional toppings:
- Sugar & lemon 🍋
- Nutella & bananas 🍫🍌
- Biscoff spread 🟤
- Honey & yoghurt 🍯
Method
1️⃣ Make the batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, egg, milk, salt, and oil/butter until smooth.
2️⃣ Heat the pan
Place a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a small bit of butter or oil to prevent sticking.
3️⃣ Cook your pancakes
Pour a small ladleful of batter into the pan, tilting it to spread the batter evenly into a thin layer. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the edges lift slightly and bubbles form on the surface.
4️⃣ Flip it!
Use a spatula (or attempt a dramatic flip) to turn the pancake over. Cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown.
5️⃣ Stack & Serve
Repeat with the rest of the batter, stacking the pancakes as you go. Add your favourite toppings and enjoy!
