Sometimes, the gym just isn't it. If you're looking for ways to stay active that is a little out of the box, here are 10 quirky, underrated and fun ways to move your body...
- Dance like no one's watching: blast your favourite playlist and dance for 20+ minutes to get in some cardio, why not go full out and act like you're in a music video?
- Speed-clean your flat: vacuuming, scrubbing and dusting can be really good exercise, plus you'll be getting two jobs done at once – it's a win, win!
- Fitness video games: if you have a console at home, consider getting games like Ring Fit Adventure, Zumba Fitness or Just Dance to combine the fun of gaming with a bit of fitness.
- Indoor bouldering: there's bound to be a climbing gym in your uni city where you can reach new heights and enjoy a bit of problem-solving, they've usually got good discounts for students too!
- Hula hooping: it might sound silly, but weighted hula hoops are actually great for your core and cardio – a playful and nostalgic way of getting active.
- Puppy yoga: get those endorphins pumping by taking part in a wholesome yoga class filled with puppy cuddles! Not crazy enough? See if there's a goat yoga class near you!
- LARP: Live action role playing might seem too unusual, but it's actually an amazing reminder of how awesome our imaginations are and, depending on the game, you could be wearing a heavy costume, swinging heavy weaponry or running for your life.

- Try a TikTok trend: from treadmill dances to viral challenges, TikTok is packed with random but effective fitness ideas. Head to your FYP page to find the latest dance trend, you might just go viral and get fit at the same time.
- Martial arts: whether it's Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Karate or Capoeira, there's a martial art out there that will make you feel like Bruce Lee while learning practical ways to defend yourself.
Exercise doesn't have to mean lifting weights or running for miles, it can look like dancing in your pyjamas, climbing a fake rock, or even role playing!
