London might have a reputation for being pricey, but some of its best experiences don't cost a penny. Whether you're new to the city or just fancy a cheap day out, here are Tatyana's favourite free things to do in London. No ticket, no problem.
Wander around Spitalfields Market
This is the type of place where you go in for a quick wander and end up spending hours soaking in the stalls, and even if you're not buying there's still loads to enjoy.
From quirky independent traders to live music and pop-up art, it's a popular place to see what some of London's best vendors offer and people-watch.
If you want the full buzz, head here on a Sunday, and don't forget to check out the street food too. I'd definitely recommend trying one (or two) of the food stalls throughout your time at university!
Explore East London's Street Art
If you love creativity without the ticket price, London's streets are your art gallery. From Shoreditch to Southbank, you'll spot everything from iconic Banksy pieces to hidden murals by local artists.

Walk over Tower Bridge
Just a 20 minute walk away from Lilian Knowles House, this is one of the city's most recognisable landmarks. Although the glass-floor exhibition costs, walking across the bridge is completely free and the views are priceless.
Bonus points if you catch the bridge lifting for a passing boat!
Take a short tube to the Natural History Museum
Dinosaurs, gems, earthquakes – the Natural History Museum covers it all, and is completely free to enter. Not only is the building itself stunning, but there's so much to see you could easily lose an afternoon here.
Or head to the world's largest museum of applied arts and design, the V&A, home to over 2.8 million objects!
London is packed with free gems - these are just a few of Tatyana's favourites. Walk around the city and you'll find it's full of surprises, there's always something worth discovering that doesn't have to break the bank.
